Online Cab Booking System
(Mobile Application for Riders, Cab Drivers with robust web admin panel)

Blue Copper developed a comprehensive software suite for a UK-based cab service operating in the bustling area of Woking. Faced with the challenges of competing with industry giants and the high costs of existing booking software, the company sought bespoke development. Blue Copper stepped in to create an extensive solution, including Android applications for customers, cab drivers, and in-cab entertainment. The suite also featured a customer-facing web portal and a robust admin panel for efficient job bookings.

The software incorporated cutting-edge features such as geofencing, cab allocation based on queue or proximity, point-to-point navigation, integration with telephony systems, and geo-location-based advertisements within the vehicles. Blue Copper worked tirelessly day and night to ensure a rapid market launch, delivering a complete package with the latest advancements in the cab service industry. The successful completion of this project marked a significant milestone for the client company.

Key Challenges

  • The existing team was already using a very popular desktop application to manage the entire booking process and the client was expecting not to deviate from the user experience much.
  • There was a demand for various booking options like on-call booking, window booking, app booking, and many more which made the booking process complex in nature but our job was to keep it simple and intuitive.
  • The entire system was to be so perfect and fast that it could process thousands of bookings, invoices, ratings, and other services on time without any delays.
  • There were a number of integrations like Telephony systems, Notification services, Dispatch services, Intelligent media services, and many more which are required to be in sync perfectly.

Our Solution

  • We proactively offered them a plan to build an entire platform using a microservice model, the reason being that was the most suitable architecture to handle such a giant solution suite.
  • We segregated the cab allocation system as a separate module and in the same way, the administration console was running differently, every part was communicating with each other using well-managed and documented REST APIs.
  • Data modeling was focused mainly on retaining all information to make the application auditable, intelligent and scalable.
  • Management Reporting, KPI, and Reports were also part of the scope.
  • We have delivered the project on time with having 4 Mobile Native Apps, 2 Web Apps and a backend server for the cab dispatch facility as a part of the delivery BOM.
